Ice Cream Dream - June Stamp Of The Month Blog Hop

Welcome to this months blog hop. This month we are featuring Ice Cream Dream.

This hop is a circle hop. That means just keep hopping until you start back where you started. If you have been hopping, you will be coming from the amazing {Katy Taylor}. Next in the blog hop is the creative {Melissa Robinson}.

I always try to think outside of the box when it comes to the stamp of the month. Sometimes I can't. This is not one of those stamps.

This first started out as a one layer card. I sponged the balloon (#M45A50). But I ended up smearing the embossing, and there is no way to fix that. So I cut out the actual balloon and placed it on top. And since I had to add that piece, I use foam adhesive and popped it up.

I used a lot of masking to make the sentiment. I use happy and you from "you are my happy". The "to" was extreme masking. From the large sentiment in this sotm, I use the "t" from "can't" and the "o" from "you". Like I said, extreme masking. Washi tape was my friend.
Birthday is from Joyful Birthdays and I have those stamps cut in half so I can use just birthday, or happy. Otherwise, just mask off the happy part. Don't worry about cutting your stamps apart. It is easy to do and they will fit right back into the rest of the stamp and no one would know you even cut them.

I embossed after every word so I could see where I stamped, and to make sure the were able to emboss properly. I used my home made embossing buddy, cornstarch in nylons, to help with the stray powder. It doesn't get rid of them all, but its better than not using one.

I wanted to share a sneak peek using this stamp set in my next Create Your Card video. Here is the link to my {video}

I hope you enjoy this blog hop. Keep hopping along with {Melissa Robinson}.

You can purchase this stamp set for $5 with a $50 purchase.

Create Your Card - Create A Pop Of Color Diecut Card

Welcome to this weeks Create Your Card Video. I will be showing you how to make a pop of color diecut card.

This technique is pretty simple. The color is what makes it pop. It has an embossed look to it. You can use any diecut, but they need to be smaller. You need a few diecuts to make this work.

I am using image #M131512 from Artfully Sent. Make sure to ungroup before you use contour.

To get my text, I used contour to get it as a positive. Just click the card to get the thanks as a positive.

To decide my sizing and placement, I used the card option under set canvas. I used slice to remove the exclamation point for the rest of the diecuts. I chose to make the colored diecut slightly larger. Duplicate as many as you choose.

I want to show you a trick I learned on how to slice multiple images all at once. I forgot to weld a word together to slice and was unable to do so. I welded the word together and was able to slice.  So you can use this technique with anything. Select and weld.

For this card, I wanted to cut off the excess . Insert and rectangle and size to the size of the card. Select your welded image and rectangle and slice.

There you have it. Multiple images being sliced once.

Since the words are welded together, it will cut as one. So I placed a strip of blue where the image is on the mat.

I hope you enjoy the video.  Stop by next week for a brand new card and video.

Tutti Frutti At Heart 2 Heart

Hi. We have a new challenge for you over at {Heart 2 Heart}. This week is all about Tutti Frutti. This one is going to be fun. Bright colors, fruit, even the song can be your inspiration. Or you can use our May special, Taste Of Summer. It has bright colors and fruit.

I used Taste Of Summer for my project. I took advantage of the bright fun patterns on the backside and the fruit patterns. This layout is good for using leftovers from other projects because the chevrons use a 1 x 2 inch piece of paper.

This month has been crazy with my hubby being gone, so the plans I had for this paper pack kinda went down the drain. This is one of the layouts I did manage to finish.

No stamping on this layout. I just used images from Artbooking. Hello (#M3D1EE) and the sun (#M3F370) were used as is. I altered the chevron (#M417D1) and sliced endless summer (#M3F95C) so I only had summer.

Here is what I did to the chevron. I used contour to remove the center. Then I unlocked the proportions and made it 2 in by 1 in.

I hope you enjoyed this project. We would love if you were to play along with us for Tutti Frutti challenge. You have all month to play along with this and all of May's challenges at {Heart 2 Heart}.

Cricut Explore Tutorial - Pop Up Diecut

Hello again. I have new tutorial for you . I have been trying to figure this one out since I started doing tutorials. But I have finally figure it out.

Pop up cards are so cool. You see them everywhere. Most are made with a die cut specifically to do the partial cutting.

I did this all in Design Space, so lets show you how.

To do this technique, you must use an image with a shadow, or and image that you can easily make a gap between the background and the image. You will see what I am talking about soon. You can narrow you search to show only multi layer image. But the second layer must be a shadow, not a backer at the same size.
In the card above, I used #M417E3. In the tutorial I used #M47295. The image I used in the tutorial was not part of the subscription, so I found one so I could cut it.
Make sure to ungroup and delete any layers you will not be using. I had to unhide (the eye in the layers tab) some of the layers to find the shadow layer.

You will being using two squares for this technique. Make one the the size you want for the background. I am using a A2 size for the tutorial. The second one will be sized smaller. this is what will weld together the image to the base. You may want it to be larger or smaller. It really depends on what look you are going for.

Take your shadow layer and place it where you would like it on the background. Use the align options if you would like it centered. Slice the shadow from the base. Delete the shadow once it is done.

Weld the smaller rectangle to the image. Use align to make it centered. You can also use an oval for a more rounded look.

Align you image in the sliced area. You can try to resize a little larger, but make sure none of the image is touching the base. Anything touching will be welded together. Select the image and the base and weld.

Now your image is complete. Do try to make the gap as small as you can. When you fold it flat, it will show the size difference. Once it is folded up though, it is not as visible. The image I cut had a larger gap. The shadow was a bit larger than the image and I did enlarge it as much as I could.

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial. Come back soon for more tutorials and videos.

Create Your Card - Create A Camouflage

Hi. Back with a new card in the Create Your Card series. I will show you how to do the camouflage die cut technique.  This will give a look of a hidden die cut. The photos will help explain this.

In the video, I mention how I like to give a border around the card, so it isn't just one layer. Here is the difference. I think that border makes the card pop more.

Yes, this is the same card I made in the video. I used a file to buff of the color from the oops. I had to hide the bottom one because it was a little too big to buff out. This only works as long as the paper is not white core. You sand a white core, you see the white. All Close To My Heart  cardstock has a white core.

Close ups of the die cut so you can see it better.

Now you can use any die cuts, but I will show you how to do this in Design Space.

Chose your image or word. I used #M3CDD2 from Artbooking. You will also need a square for your card base.

You will size the square to the card base size, or slightly smaller if you want to mat the card like I do in the video.
Size the die cut , and duplicate 2 to 3 times.

Select the card and the original image/text and attach.

Since all the cuts will be on white paper, go to sync and drag until all the cuts are the same color. This will have it cut out on one mat.

Here is the video on how to make the rest of the card.

I hope you enjoyed this weeks card. Stop by next week for a brand new card/video.

Game On At Heart 2 Heart

Welcome to this weeks challenge at {Heart 2 Heart}.

It's game on this week. We want to see your game inspired projects. It could be your favorite team, someone playing sports, or be inspired by board games.

I had a hard time with this challenge. I did play sports when I was a kid. Soccer while I was in elementary and was on the basketball team in middle school. But I can't find my pictures of those. Although I have problems finding any pictures right now because of the move. Not everything is unpacked and sad to say it is all piled up in front of the closet. But I digress. I can not remember the sizes of the photos so I don't like to do layouts when I have no clue about the photos being used. So those layouts will have to be done later.

I remember seeing scrabble tiles somewhere and I knew what I was going to do. Finally.

The tiles are 6 x 6. I will be adding them to a canvas so they look like it's not just a piece of paper on the wall. Which they are right now. For the photos. Kinda.
I did try stamping a wood grain on the paper, but couldn't get it to look the way I wanted. It is pretty simple, just Bamboo cardstock and vinyl. The font I used is called Gulim. I wanted something that looked exactly like the real thing. And this is pretty close.

Here they are all on the wall, spelling my whole name. I didn't know what I wanted to spell. so I went basic.

I hope you enjoyed this project. You have all month long to join us for this and all of the other challenges for May at {Heart 2 Heart}. Remember, you must use some Close To My Heart product to play along.

It's Finally Here - Design Space Classes

I am finally able to offer 1 on 1 classes for Design Space. Many people have asked for this and I am now offering it.

I will be doing two type of classes. 1st class is basics of Design Space. This will go one by one of all the features of Design Space. You will learn what each button or tab does and how to use them. Second classes is an advanced class. It will go through how to download a font, how to upload svg and basic uploads. How to make your own images in Design Space. Or you can have it tailored to a certain project.

These classes will be through Skype. Which you can download {here}. This give the option to not only video one on one, but also to screen share so you can see exactly what to do, like it was you controlling it. You can also screen share with me, if you need to figure out how to do something.

I am offering these classes for $50 a class. Or you can buy both for $80.

I am only offering classes fro Design Space. I will not be doing Cricut Craft Room and I do not know how to do Inkscape or other programs. I am not a tech, so I can not do any troubleshooting.

If you would like to sign up for a class, email me at {nikkageers@gmail.com}.

I will still be offering my tutorials and videos. This is just if you would like one on one time learning more about Design Space.

Taste Of Summer

It's National Scrapbooking Month, and we have a special paper pack and a special blog hop to go with it.

This is a circle hop, so keep hopping until you get back to the blog you started at. If you did not start here, you should be coming from {Michele Rowley}. Next is {Paige Dolecki}.

This paper pack is bright, fruity and fun. And it brought me back to the first paper pack I ever got as a consultant. The pack was called Cherry-O. So I wanted to redo this. Which was actually inspired by a PaperCraft card. So it's a remake of a remake.

Here is the {original post}.

I couldn't find a current thank you stamp that would have worked with this, but I found the life is sweet stamp and thought it would work perfectly.

I didn't have any lace, so I made mine with the Cricut (#M444B6). The same with the button (#M3D1D4). We no longer carry the irresistibles, so I just took a butterfly from Artbooking (#M41139). I wish I would have added the sparkles, I forgot.

The colors in the paper pack are only found in this paper pack, so I had to do a little work to make the Ruby cardstock to work better with the red in the paper. I used Tender Pink ShinHan marker over the Ruby carsdtock to make it complement each other better. I used second generation stamping of Ruby ink for the sentiment.

I had to make my cut for the piece where the sentiment is. For my original one, I just trace the outline of another product we carried at the time.

Using image #M3D0CC, I sliced the top of the frame and welded it to a rectangle. Makes you look at images differently now.

You can order this special paper pack through the month of May for $8.95. No minimum or extra purchase required.

Thank you for stopping by. Keep on hopping by visiting {Paige Dolecki}.

Create Your Card - Create A Triple Time Card

Happy Wednesday. I have a brand new Create Your Card video for you. I will show you how to do the triple time stamping that is all the rage right now.

So let's get started.

I wanted to show you about the canvas, since I never tend to use them. Click on set canvas and it will pull up all your options. I am using the card.

You can change the details of the canvas under the canvas tab. I changed the color so I can show you how the layers will work.

Using the insert image option, add 5 squares. Change 3 to white. These will be the layers you will be stamping on. Change the other 2 to another color. Those will be the mats.

You will be changing all the sizes. Under edit, click the lock to have it unlocked. The sizes I used where 4 x 5.25, 3.25 x 4.5, 3 x 4.25, 2.25 x 3.5, and 2 x 3.25. Make sure to bring each layer to the front under arrange.

Select all and center under the align option.

Go back to layers tab. You will be working with the white layers, so the easiest way to do this is to hit the eye next to the two colored layers.

Select all and attach. This will now cut all 3 layers together. Remember to click the eyes next to the layers you hid so they will cut.

In the video, I also cut a 4.25 x 5.5 mat for the card base and 4.25 x 0.5 strip for the sentiment.

You can make this card without the Explore, just use the measurements stated above to make your cuts.
