May Stamp of the Month Blog Hop - Just Sayin'

It's May, so we have a new Stamp Of The Month blog hop for you. We are featuring Just Sayin' this month.

This hop is a circle, so keep hopping until you back to where you started. If you are continuing this hop, you will be coming from the talented {Wendy Coffman}. Next in this hop is the wonderful {Michelle Loncar}

I knew I wanted to do a rainbow card. I sat and played with these triangles (#M455D2) and this is the winner.  The arrow behind the sentiment is actually the enjoy the moment stamp. I flipped it over and used the back. This works great if you like the shape of the stamp and not want to use the detailed part of it. The sentiment is from the Operation Smile stamp set, Happy Everything.

I hope you enjoyed my project. Next in this hop is {Michelle Loncar}.

Create Your Card - Create A Bendi Card

Hello. We have a new Create Your Card video for you today. This video was requested by Brenda Tucker-Newsome.

I have never heard of these cards before, but I was sent a photo. Here is how to make them with the Explore.

I am using the new feature, insert images. You will need three squares, two hexagons, and 4 score lines.

You will need to change the sizes. The card base will be 5.5 x 4.25. Flap 1 will be 5.5 x 2.5. Flap 2 will be 5.5 x 2. I changed the colors so you can see them in the next steps.

You will need to change the sizes off the hexagons to the height of 1 inch. Line it up on the edge. Panel 1 will be on the right and panel 2 will be on the left. Use the new feature, align, to center vertically. This feature is awesome. I like it better than the Ipad option because with the Ipad, it locks in when trying to move it.

Weld the hexagons to the panels.

Add score lines to each panel on the opposite side of the tabs, half an inch in. Select and attach.

Line up panel one with the card base. Use align to bottom align. You will place the cut line 1 inch from the right. Use the tab for placement and size of score line.

You will change the score lines to cut. Select and attach.

Line up panel 2 with panel 1 . Do the same as above, but place the score line 1.5 inches on the left side. Change to cut and attach.

Now if you you want a curved edge like above, here is how you can do this.

Use paint to make the curved line. It looks like a straight line.

To make it curved, you will be clicking once to make the first curve and click again to make the second curve. You can adjust the curve however you like. Save and import into Design Space. If you don't know how to do this, here is a tutorial on {how to upload an image}.

This is how I decorated the card. I used candles (#M347B4 from Wild Card) and balloons (#M45A50 from Artiste)

A trick I used for this. When you duplicate, it comes line diagonally. I used align top and they laid out perfectly so I can weld together.

Anything Goes - CTMH Style at Heart 2 Heart

Hi. We have a new challenge for you at Heart 2 Heart.

This week is up to you. It's anything goes - CTMH style.

My card is actually inspired by Tresa Black. But not by a card. She made a comment on another card using this finger about a pull my finger card. And I had to make one.

Funny thing is, it works two ways. You can actually pull the finger and there is a hidden message

It's such a dad thing to say so I had to make it into a father's day card.

To make the piece that pulls out, you need to make it a t shape.  Like the picture above. Cut a slit in the paper and insert.

The finger and the letters (#M397B4) are cut from the Cricut. I love that it can cut my stamps for me. I hate fussy cutting. I could have cut the pull piece with the Cricut as well, but I didn't think about until later.

Create Your Card - Create An Outline Shaker Card

Hello. I am starting new series, Create Your Card. Every Wednesday I will be making a brand new card and post it on Youtube. I hope you enjoy them. They will be one take, no edits videos. So be nice. I do stumble on words sometimes. I work better with a script.

This is the card we will be making.

Your can do this with any shape, but I will be using hearts in my example.

You will need 3 hearts (#M46EAC). Make one slightly bigger and move it out of the way.  Also add a rectangle (#M47638).

Take the other two hearts. Make the one smaller. The size depends on how big you want the shaker to be. It will matter on what are placing in the shaker. You want it to big enough to have the items move freely through the shaker. Make sure to attach once done.

Size the rectangle. I chose this to be slightly smaller than the card base. Select the 3 and attach. Duplicate.
You will be cutting the group once for fun foam, and once with cardstock. The cut the larger heart in acetate.

I hope you enjoyed this video. Come back next week for a new card. I will still be doing my tutorials on this blog. The videos will be for this series only.

Sketch Challenge At Heart 2 Heart

Take two. I already finished this post but it did not save. Ugh. I hate when that happens.

I am sorry for anyone who has been following my blog, expecting new projects everyday this month. I got really sick, even had to go to the hospital, so I haven't been able to make it into the craft room. Plus I chose to do that on a whim so I did not have projects already done. Oh Well. I can always try later in the year.

We have a new challenge for you over at {Heart 2 Heart}. This week is a sketch challenge, made by me. (happy claps).

Now you can follow this sketch exactly, or can use it as a guide. Just as long as we can see that this sketch is what inspired you.

Sadly to say, I needed a sympathy card this week. My step grandmother passed. And I need a card to send to my parents. As a rule, you want sympathy cards to be simple and elegant. So I chose to do a one layer cards using Black and Smokey Plum as my colors.
How I followed the sketch was I used the background stamp for my rectangle and my sentiment is where the banners are.

The flower is from an old retired set. It has a lot of the long, silhouette flowers. I thought of this set immediately when I knew I needed a sympathy card. I needed the background to be more muted than it was, so I took a baby wipe and pounced on the stamp. It is kinda hard to see in the photo, but the flower and the sentiment are in Smokey Plum.

I hope you will join us this week at {Heart 2 Heart}. You have all month to play along with all of the challenges for this month.  You will need to use some Close To My Heart products to play along.

It's here - Seasonal Expressions 2 Special Blog Hop

Welcome to our special blog hop. This is a circle hop, so keep on going until you get back to the blog you started from. If you did not start here, you should be coming from {Darlys Recker} blog. Next in the hop is {Terry Ann Diack} blog.

We have a brand new mini for you guys. Brand new items through August. Many of the items are limited time only. Almost all of the stamp sets will be available for a year. The ones that are only available while the mini is here are the hostess stamps and the Operation Smile stamp set.

Again I went to pinterest for my inspiration. I wanted something where I could use the sentiments from the stamp of the month. You can find the pin {here}.

Our new washi sets comes with 1/4 inch washi tape, which was perfect to replicate this card. The papers are from the new Blossom paper pack. I didn't have any enamel shapes so I made my own using Liquid Glass and circles of Blossom paper cut from the Cricut, #M458E2.

I used the stamp of the month sentiments for this. I cut it in half so I can have the sentiment lengthwise.

Heart 2 Heart Challenge - Checkerboard

We have a new challenge for you over at {Heart 2 Heart}. This week we want to see your checkerboard ideas.

I have another cake inspiration from {cakewrecks.com} Sunday Sweets. The wrecks are funny, but Sunday Sweets have these beautiful done cakes. Works of art. This isn't really my style, but I knew this would be a great inspiration.

I may have saved this cake just for this challenge, I don't remember.  But it is perfect. I love the half heart look. Very different and cool.

I used my Cricut a lot here. Simple. In Design Space, took my square, and placed it on top and attached. It cut all out and in half. Embossed 3 half of hearts with gold embossing.

The images I used were Love You #M3DBB9 , heart #M46EAC, and rectangle #M47639.

I hope you join us this week for our checkerboard challenge at {Heart 2 Heart}. You must use some Close To My Heart.

Flashback friday

It is day 3 and I am sick still. I don't know what it is, cold, flu, whatever. But I am miserable. I will save the details, but it is not pretty. I don't want to already break my goal, so I am bringing back an oldie from 2011.

The original post is missing, so I don't have the details on this. I will soon be remaking this card because I love how it turned out.

I am hoping to be better by tomorrow.

Operation Smile Stamp Set - Happy Everything

My anniversary with Close To My Heart is today, It has been 5 years. So not only do I have a special going on, you can find out the details {here}, but I am going to try to post everyday for a month, whether it be artwork or a tutorial. This is day 2. Stop by every day to see if I can do this, and should have something new for you.

Our new mini, Seasonal Expressions 2 just became available on the 1st, so I will have a bunch of new goodies for you.

It has been a long times since I have played along with {mojo monday}, so I tried this sketch out. It is weird to do this size, I almost made it an A2 size, but what is a challenge without a challenge.

So the newest addition to this mini is the Operation Smile stamp set. Close To My Heart donates $3 from every stamp set. This one is called Happy Everything and is a D size stamp.

Look at all the cute sentiments that come in this stamp set.

I tested out the ShinHan markers that we sell. I am not a pro and I think the yellow balloon turned out better than the red one.

I wanted the sentiment to be different, so I embossed the sentiment and sponged black ink around it, leaving the checkerboard. I have yet to figure out how to get a smooth embossing without going over it again, so there were some bumps to it. But still looks cool.

I hoped you enjoyed this project. Please come back to see more projects, and see if I can keep up with the posting everyday challenge.
